My Experiences
I have been fortunate enough to have a few opportunities to go and experience different elementary classrooms. Let me share them with you!

01
Second Grade
Fall of 2021 I was able to go into a second grade classroom at West Elementary School in Grand Rapids, MN. I completed 30 hours in the classroom. For the first few weeks I mainly observed and helped students with work and reading. Then as time went on I helped give assessments to students, grade homework, and take a little more responsibility in the classroom each week.
02
Field Trips
During my time at Itasca Community College I was able to go on a few field trips to gain new experiences. We went to The Bigfork School where I was able to observe a first grade classroom and a 7th grade history class. We also volunteered at the food shelf here in Grand Rapids, and I was able to go to the Grace House twice. All of these field trips gave me extra experience and I was able to learn new things!

03
Third Grade
The winter and spring of 2022 I shadowed in a third grade classroom. I was at King School Elementary in Deer River, MN. I spent around 60 hours in this classroom. Here i got to branch out a little bit more, get more involved, and take on some extra responsibility. I taught small math lessons and went over assignments with the students to correct them. I also read with many students and helped those who struggled. I was able to lead the classroom on my own numerous of times, which was really exciting having that extra responsibility.
